Teaching and Behaviour Courses

Our courses explained!

Teaching course
Unlock your potential as a dog trainer and enhance your skills with our comprehensive course designed for aspiring and current trainers. This is a 5 day course.
What you will learn: New training methods, human and canine learning, interactive discussions, role play and practical experience, class management and teaching skills and handling skills. A great opportunity to grow as a dog trainer and connect with like-minded professionals.
This course is offered across the UK and we will be posting our next venue soon! You will receive a certificate and the course will give you 45 hours of cpd.

Decoding Dog Behaviour
A 2 day course where we immerse you an interactive look at the 'whole picture' of behaviour. We use a combination of presentations, demonstrations, video analysis and interactive games! We will look at many behaviours and their manifestations plus how we as dog trainers can help rehabilitate. A look at the body language that helps us read what the dog is saying, whilst looking at how they see the world! You will receive a certificate and 16 hours of cpd.
In August we will be in Norfolk and then Wales.

Train and Transform
This unique course is an amazing opportunity to enhance your handling skills, your ability to read the dog in front of you and hopefully help a Rescue dog get a home! We have the amazing opportunity to work with Ferne Animal Sanctuary dogs, following the journey through the week of the dogs progression and your learning journey through our teaching sessions. We will be promoting the dogs to get them a home and your heart can be filled to know that you haven't just helped your self, you've helped a dog who is in need.

Webinars!

We are currently running a course of webinars on typical training topics, our next one is on Stay!

A little about your instructors!

Lyn Wilson BIPDT PPDTI

I’m Lyn Wilson and have years of experience working with people and their dogs. Starting by running a small training school in London which grew to a complete facility alongside a luxury boarding facility and being able to offer classes in every discipline including residential training with a complete team of trainers and behaviourists. Over the years I have gained accreditation to be a hoopers, agility, Kc good citz, pet dog obedience and life skills including parkour, behaviour and scent instructor. I have had the pleasure of sharing my life with many breeds of dogs, the ones I have owned, looked after and trained, each one is an individual with their own specific needs.

I now reside in Dorset and help out and Chair for a local dog club and also run my own classes and workshops. I enjoy tutoring for the PDTI as an advanced instructor and since forming the CDTA sharing my skills and knowledge with other instructors and those aspiring to be trainers through our in-depth teaching courses around the country.

I look forward to hopefully meeting you on one of our courses soon.

I started my dog training journey in 2009, initially helping at a local club and setting up my own dog walking business so that I could observe lots of different breeds. In 2013 I achieved my University diploma with Harper Adams uni in canine behaviour and management. Along side this I became a professional member of the PDTI and achieved their advanced practical certification. My career then turned to working as a Breeder Assessor for the Kennel Club for several years before entering the worl of rescue by becoming an Animal Welfare Manager. In 2024 I became an accredited dog trainer for the IAABC and continue to expand my knowledge of all things dog! I have over all these years run my company Kent Companion Dog Training, running classes and working with people and their dogs on a 1:1 basis both with training and behaviour. My aim for Companion Dog Trainers Academy is to help trainers grow in confidence, develop more skills and to create a great network of trainers.
